Team CMR is making its comeback this year in GT3 with two Bentley Continental GT3 competing in GT World Challenge Europe Sprint and Endurance. The Alesian team will be able to count on fast drivers to ensure its comeback.
A month after the official announcement of its return to the Grand Tourism category, the CMR team finalized its crews. With a real wish to return in good conditions, the team knew to surround itself with exceptional drivers. In addition, Bentley Motorsport provides technical support to the team, as well as driving two official drivers. In the Sprint Cup, the Pro car will be handed over to Nelson Panciatici, double ELMS European champion and Jules Gounon, the recent winner of the Bathurst 12-hour race in Bentley. The Pro-am car will be driven by Erwin Creed, FIA WEC LMP2 driver last season, and the young prodigy Pierre-Alexandre Jean, recent France FFSA GT vice champion with the team. In the Endurance Cup, the Bentley Pro will be driven by a trio composed by the Indian rider Arjun Maini (former development driver Haas F1 Team), official Bentley Motosport driver Seb Morris and Pierre-Alexandre Jean, who recently joined the Bentley Motorsport Academy.
The car entered in AM will be driven by Stéphane Tribaudini (2017 French FFSA GT AM Champion), Romano Ricci (FIA WEC driver in LMP2 last season) and his usual team-mate Erwin Creed.
They said : Jules Gounon : “ I can’t wait for the season to start! I am proud to have been chosen by the parent company to help the new French Bentley team : CMR. Since being confirmed in the team, I have seen how hard Charly and her team are working to be ready for the start of the season. In addition, with the arrival of Nelson in the Bentley CMR, the package is brought together to make great performances in 2020. »
Stéphane Tribaudini: “I’m still having trouble making it! It’s incredible to make my debut in GT World Challenge Europe four years after my motorsport debut. Continuing with CMR is really reassuring to discover the global level. It is an honour to drive a car as prestigious as the Bentley Continental GT3. I look forward to starting the first tests, trying to tame the car and getting to know my teammates. A big thank you to CMR for their trust for four seasons and the huge opportunity, as well as to my partners without whom nothing would be possible (Envoidunet, Monneret and Formation, AEI Promotion)»
Arjun Maini: I look forward to starting this new adventure. It is very exciting to discover this championship with this super car and the CMR team. The calendar is really great, we will do our best to be fast» Nelson Panciatici: It is a great pleasure to join the GT World Challenge Europe with CMR on a Bentley with plant support. It is a championship of very high level both at the level of the teams and the drivers and the number of manufacturers involved naturally forces respect. I knew CMR when I was involved in the development of the Alpine A110 GT4 and I was impressed by the level where they managed to take the car and their results. They are truly passionate and I am very motivated to work with them. The first contacts with Jules Gounon were very positive and I look forward to working with him. The competition will be tougher than ever but we are both competitors and our objective will obviously be to fight for the podiums. I discovered the GT3 in 2015 with Duqueine Engineering, it is a beautiful category with sublime cars. Finally, I am pleased to be back with Q8 Oils, who accompanied me as Spain’s F3 Vice Champion at the beginning of my career.”
